ALUMNI SEMINAR: My Journey from ICFO to Silicon Valley

MAURIZIO RIGHINI
Centrillion Technologies

Bio:
As a Scientist at Centrillion Technologies (Palo Alto, California), Maurizio Righini develops new DNA sequencing technologies. Previously, he did his postdoctoral work on molecular motors at the University of California, Berkeley, in the laboratory of Prof. Carlos Bustamante. He earned a Ph.D. degree at ICFO in the Plasmon Nano-Optics group led by Prof. Romain Quidant and has a master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy.

Abstract:
In this webinar I will outline my professional trajectory from my Ph.D. graduation at ICFO to my current job in industry. First, I will share my experience of being a postdoctoral researcher in the United States. Then I will describe my quest for a researcher position in the American private sector. Finally, I will illustrate my latest invention: the DNA bridges, a platform for single-molecule sequencing and other DNA-protein interaction applications.
